Artisanal Wine Cellars – Evangeline

A couple months ago, while on our way back from a trip into Yamhill County wine country, we decided to try out a tasting room in Newberg that we’d never visited.  We stopped in at Artisanal Wine Cellarson 1st street in Newberg.

Such a quaint place with really warm, inviting staff.  We were fortunate that the owner and Asst winemaker, Patricia Feller was our pourer.  She was exceptionally generous and was willing to give us a few “extra” pours so that our experience was the best it could be.

I just recently enjoyed a bottle of their Evangeline Rose.  So delicious!!  Unlike so many purveyors in the valley, they chose to make their rose not solely out of Pinot Noir. . . but from the glorious Grenache grape, and a little pinot for structure.  Ok, yes, I am a bit prejudiced.  I LOVE grenache . . .Cotes d’ Rhone, GSM, most wines from Southern France . . .  This luscious rose was made from grapes from our own Umpqua Valley

Artisanal also produces great Pinot Noirs.  I especially enjoyed their Craftsman Cuvee and the Murto Vineyards single vineyard offering, both from the 2012 vintage.  Great structure and complexity as well as superb balance and silky finish.  They also produce (as many do not) a Gamay Noir.  Another of my personal faves.

I’m certain you will be very pleased with the delicious wines from Artisanal Wine Cellars.
